Sports Interactive released the ninth hotfix patch (and tenth overall) for the final retail version of Football Manager 2018. Again this hotfix is to address some stability issues reported since the 18.3.2 update.

Released: 20 March 2018

As usual the update is save game compatible, so you don't have to start a new save game to apply the fixes.

You will need to close down Football Manager 2018 and re-launch for it to update. If this does not work for you or you feel it has not updated, you will need to restart Steam.
Even if that doesn't do the trick, then verify the game cache will.

The national teams of Germany and Japan have fake players in Football Manager 2018 due to licensing issues that Sports Interactive and SEGA have been unable to resolve through the years.

As a result there are certain files within the FM 2018 installation folders that prevent you from managing the aforementioned national teams and also exclude real players showing up in their rosters.

Fixing this problem is as simple as deleting a few files, but you will have to start a new save-game for the fix to take immediate effect. It may work in games you've already created, it just doesn't happen...

Recently crowned League One manager for the month of February, Derek Adams believes that people have no idea about the kind of difficulties football managers have to face behind-the-scenes. The boss at the Plymouth Argyle was awarded the trophy after having scored 5 successive wins that saw the pilgrims secure a place in the play-offs. They were at the bottom of the table starting December 2017, but won 11 out of their 15 games thereafter, completely turning things around for their side.



This sort of total transformation isn't exactly unheard of but it's still something to see when a team...

This was built and tested in Italian football using both AC Milan and AS Roma as subjects.

Originally started with 1xST and 4xCM/DM combo. This was eventually deemed too defensive, and the added threat of a second striker made (1) a direct ball to the top viable, and (2) the team less predictable. It's not a gamebreaker tactic, but it is a viable Sweeper system for Football Manager 2018.
