Donate to Eugene to get the "g" edition

As usual, Genie Scout 15 comes in two editions:
The public edition comes with 2 banner ads and an offer screen during installation.
The "g" edition has no ads nor offers during installation.

In order to get the "g" edition, you need to donate to Eugene. Refer to Genie Scout 15g FAQ if you have further questions.

Apart from no ads, the "g" edition has 5 extra features:
  • Search by role/duty: New tab in advanced search popup that allows searching by role and duty - plus sortable columns of each of them in search results
  • Probability of Development: A statistically based model that will show the probability of reaching theoretical maximum of players ability
  • Progress Rate: Shows the predicted speed of player's development, depending on his ambition, determination, professionalism etc
  • Support for Graphics: If you have custom facepacks and/or kitpacks added to your FM, it should show on player and team profiles on GS
  • Top Players Lists: Automatically generated lists for best players, most promising and top bargains in the world, by position

Please note that during the first run of "g" edition it may take a few minutes to create the graphic packs cache. Next time it will be loaded much faster.

DELIVERY OF THE 'G' EDITION:
Eugene has automatized the process of distribution for the "g" edition, so you will have to wait just a few minutes before you receive a download link and a key file. But only if they have sent correct contact email, correct Unique ID alongside your donation.

Make sure you check your Spam folder too.
It might take up to 24 hours though. In case of problem with your donation, please contact Eugene using the email address you'll see in the message after donation.

IMPORTANT:
FM Scout (the site) is not involved in the donations towards Eugene, neither has any responsibility delivering the ad-free version to you after donation. This is a process handled solely by Eugene himself.

Bug Reports

During closed beta stage for supporters, Eugene fixed all bugs that came to surface. As a result, the public edition should be quite stable from its very first version.

Should you find a bug, please report it to the Genie Scout forum.
Read this before submitting any bugs!

Known issue: Sale value for players is not accurate and sadly we have no way of making it work as it used to be before GS13.

Any comment including bug report posted on this page will be removed on sight!

EXPORTING DATA:
Please understand it is forbidden by the EULA from SI and SEGA to export all the data from the results. You should be able to export only basic information such as player name, club, age, etc.

Marius2015 Possession for FM15

Marius was Roman Conzul, the Uncle of Julius Caesar. His goal was domination in military reforms, tactics in battlefield that control the battle, he was always victory hungry and that is why this tactic bears his name!

The tactic is all about possession play with short passes and passes in space which will give the final touch in finishing movements.

Because this is fairly narrow tactic, Run at defense will give the extra touch on unpredictability and stabilize tactic with stubborn defenses.

It is about wing play on both sides and wings are the main attacking and chance creating mechanics of your team. Also player roles are maximum balanced giving this tactic a boost!

If you want control with good creation of clear cut chances, this is the tactic for you. It's a pass and move tactic with occasionally running wit the ball movement.

The lone striker is a special player and he will score lots of goals; my young striker Jovic scored 36 goals during the first season!

Stats

This tactic has been tested with Red Star Belgrade (League win and cup win), Schalke 04 (League win), PSG (4 trophies in first season Champions league, Ligue 1, cup and community cup).

Tottenham Hotspurs Team Guide for FM15

$

Introduction

Tottenham, one of the finest clubs in England. Throughout history, even recent they always sat on the upper half of the table, with stable finances that have allowed them to make quality signings every year to strengthen the core of their team. Your challenge with this team, is to reach one of the top 4 spots in England, and detain a Champions League spot for next years edition, because you see if you do manage to miss out on Champions League and the financial income it provides, more than 2 years in a row, you'll find yourself in quite a huge debt bill to pay, and may even have to face Administration, depending on how much it is you actually have spent over the course of the years, therefore it's crucial you think about which areas of the team should be reinforced and if the depth allows you to compete sufficiently at all levels, and this is exactly what this guide will help you to do!

Finances & Budget

Spurs are quite rich and stable, you have three choices of starting budgets; EURO Cup Qualifiers will give you 25m Euros and 1.98m p/w, Champions Cup Qualifiers 31m and 2.16m p/w, and finally the very dangerous Title Challengers budget 34m and 2.21m p/w. So as you can see the wage budget is quite high, you can shift that into transfer budget and enrich into a respectful amount that allows you to make very important signings from top teams, or first choice bids on any wonderkid you may be looking to sign as there are many commodities of such around for low amounts of money.

Strongest Tactics

So you might probably be wondering what tactics fits best this group of players at this point, so we're going to analyze a few tactics more in-depth to see what does and doesn't work with the starting senior squad players at hand.

4-2-3-1 Wide

Well, everyone seems to be running this tactic in the modern day, mainly because it is so versatile and it allows you to approach the game in the best possible manner with 6 players always behind the line of the ball, and 4 occupying attacking spaces centrally and laterally. Your key players in this case scenario would be Lamela on the right wind playing as an Inside Forward, Soldado/Adebayor up top Poaching or Target Man as lone Striker, Paulinho as the Ball Winning Midfielder, and Vertonghen as a covering Center Back, as you're going to want to cover up any mistakes your other defenders make, it is not recommended you play a high line holding the offside trap, as it is proven that you will leave a lot of space in your 3/4ths that will result on counter attack goal opportunities for the opposing team.

4-4-Bloody-2

Here we go again, 4-4-2 the classic with the best of both worlds. Depending on how you use this you could be considered an ultra offensive team, or an ultra defensive team parking the bus. The pros of this tactic is that you're allowed to play 2 strikers simoltaniously, like Soldado and Adebayor, but the cons would be that your midfield is composed of only 2 players and may get overrun easily against teams who play with 3-4, therefore would not get keep much of the ball throughout the match.

4-3-3

4-3-3 is a balanced formation that allows you to use your pacey wingers, and keep a solid midfield – this can be a Possession based tactic, if you decide to set such as your playing philosophy, and give you a Barca style of play, just like Pep Guardiola had. I recommend to use Complete Wing Backs to overlap the Wingers and either cut in and shoot or cross in, CWBs have been very effective for years now, and can net you quite a few “unexpected” game-winning goals.

First 11 Positional Analysis

Goalkeepers:
Michael Vorm, Brian Friedel, and Hugo Lloris, you're pretty much set in this repartment, Vorm is a Holland International, and he is only Lloris backup – who is in my regards one of, if not the best Goalkeeper in the game, because even if others may be better on One on Ones, he'll be secure to never let the ball loose infront of the goal, with his 17 Handling and high tendency to Punch away. But if you decide to make extra money from Vorm, there's always 43 year old experienced Friedel, although I won't sponsor this backup option...

Right Backs:
Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker are your main options, but you can adapt other players like EricDier or Capoue, in this case I do recommend to make a signing in this repartment, though it's up to you if you want to keep giving Walker more playing time to grow, or if you want to completely relegate him to the bench and sign someone that receives over 100k p/w and demands to play first team every game.

Central Defenders:
Vertonghen, Dier, Kaboul, Fazio, Chiriches, Kumalo, with 2nd options like Stambouli and Capoue – you're pretty much set with this defensive line up, I usually only keep 4-5 Center Backs, so if you want to sell someone to make extra cash you could think about selling Kumalo or Chiriches, as they tend to make individual mistakes more often than others.

Left Backs:
Ben Davies, Assou Ekotto, and Danny Rose – with other options like Vertonghen or even Naughton, as he can play both sides without any problems. Now, it's up to you if to keep Ekotto and Rose, but if you do decide to sell em' you could easily replace them with better wonderkids on the market from South America (Work Permit permitting), either way this is another section of the team that is well set-up to start with.

Right Midfielders:
Townsend, Lennon, Chadli, Lamela, or even Naughton, if you decide to play a more defensive set up with Right Midfielders that do both attacking and defending you have a good set up, as even some of the fullbacks are able to play further up naturally, giving you the depth you need for this role.

Central Midfielders:
Ryan Mason, Mousa Dembelè. Christian Eriksen, Chadli, Paulinho, Bentaleb, Capoue, Stambouli etc. You really have alot of options if you decide to bring up Mason and Stambouli from reserves. They are mostly playmakers though, so you might want to look for ball-winners like Wanyama, with high strenght and aggression to provide you some muscle in the middle of the pitch.

Left Midfielders:
Dembelè, Townsend, Chadli, Lamela, Danny Rose, Assou Ekotto, are some of the main mentions for this role – many of those that are able to play on the right are reversable to the left, but this can cause problems for their conditions if they don't get any rest, therefore I would recommend making an extra signing that can play both sides like Nagatomo etc.

Attacking Midfielders:
Mason, Dembelè, Eriksen, Townsend, Lennon, Lamela, Chadli, etc. This position isn't as covered as one may think, especially if you're playing 4231 and you need 2 Cms, 1 AMC and 2 Wingers, therefore you'd have to rotate and put player condition to risk – what you can do is sign more central midfielders to relieve a bit of the team, or bring up a few reserves like Mason, Stambouli etc and have them play DM – for someone playing 4141 or 4411 you have the right amount of players really.

Strikers:
Kane, Soldado, and Adebayor. Now, this is where it gets a bit tricky, 3 won't do at all, as only 2 are senior team quality, Harry is still unproven, and probably won't be fielded against the likes of Chelsea and Man City – therefore you'll need 2 more, I'd recommend signing Huntelaar and Wickham, as they don't cost much and provide exactly the depth you need – That is, if you need them for your formation, 3 Strikers are fine for a 4231, unless you're having disastrous injuries, then you might have to play Lamela there...

We've analyzed every role, and a few tactics already – but I think that overall the 4231 as said before fits this team best, for your starting line up you're going to want to use the big names, Lamela, Paulinho, Soldado, Vertonghen, Lloris, etc. Make sure you always look in your reserves to see how your youths are growing and if they can be given a first team position against Cups etc, mainly Dominic Ball, really great prospect that grows quite well into a multi-capped English International if given the chance to.

Weaknesses

The teams main weakness would be the lack of pure Strikers, injuries can really eat through your team as well so you should look to sign at least a backup for the Strikers, Center Midfield (Both AMC and MC), and maybe a Right Back.

Conclusion

Spurs can be a very fun save, especially with the right signings – you can quickly dominate every competition you play in right in the first Season, or you can tumble down and get the sack before you even get an actual taste of the job. The players are very flair-y, and can provide a lot of great Goals for you to enjoy, I've had Eriksen strike a Free Kick from over 35 yards!

It would be great if in the comments below you could summarize your own experience with the team, and if the guide was helpful, let us know!

Arsenal - Team Guide for FM15

$
0
0

Introduction

Arsenal FC are one of the biggest names in world football and are drenched with history. With 13 league titles and 11 FA cups and 1 unbeaten season to their name Arsenal have earned themselves a place in English football history. Arsenal will not be too much of a challenge to win the title with, however you will need to beat some of the biggest clubs in football like Chelsea, City and Liverpool. Will you be able to get Arsenal out of 4th place and again compete with the big boys of English football?

Finances & Budget

You'll find Arsene Wenger left the club in a very good financial state as the club recorded a 108 million pound profit last season, however, you do have 250 million pounds of debt to pay off by 2030. The new stadium allows you to rake in around 3,000,000 pounds a game if you sell out the stadium, which is great news for any team! Arsenal have a massive budget of around 50 million pounds to spend (60 if you say you can win the tile) and 250,000 pound spare wage budget which allows to strengthen the team in every way possible. For their expectation of 4th and above this is a big help and may even allow you to challenge for the title.

Strongest Tactics

4-2-3-1 Wide

This tactic best allows you to take advantage of all Arsenal's best players and is my favourite tactic in the game.

The striker Danny Welbeck aims to be a typical lone striker playing a little bit deeper than usual as a complete forward, this allows him to link up with the rest for the team. The wingers provide width and with arsenal they can use their blistering pace to get into the final third. Ozil in playmaker aims to put through those magical balls he's known to produce and can use his dribbling to get in behind the opposition. The centre mids are there for defensive cover as well as passing options. The back four is just a standard back line with two central defenders and full backs on support. The most important team instructions would have to be more direct passing, pass into space, work ball into box and attack the flanks. These instructions utilise the teams passing ability and pace meaning that they can pass the ball accurately and have their pacey wingers latch on to them and collect them. Other options for this tactic are to make Ozil a shadow striker and Aaron Ramsey an advanced playmaker.

4-5-1

If you want to utilise Olivier Giroud you could use this tactic

Quite a basic tactic but if worst comes to worst you can lob the ball from anywhere on the field up to your target man Olivier Giroud. Your centre mids will look to blast the ball up the field to Giroud who will look to either flick the ball on to the wingers or if he's close enough to take a shot at goal. Once Giroud has received the ball primarily in the final third he can distribute to the inside forwards who could cut in and score or play a simple 1-2 with Giroud to give him a scoring opportunity. Team Instructions are very important here you need either direct passing or the more extreme version of "go route one" activated for the ball to be lobbed up to giroud in the first place. As well as that you need pump ball into box as well as exploit the flanks to make this tactic work, other options to add are winger player instructions to aim crosses at target man and to float or whip crosses.

First 11 Positional Analysis

Goalkeepers:
With Wojciech Szczesny in your team you have the Goalkeeper position locked down for 10+ years. He's solid between the sticks and still has plenty of potential to fulfil, he's by no means the best keeper in the league but he's definitely up there. His backup David Ospina happens to be injured for around a month so make sure Szczesny doesn’t get injured early on or you might find yourself playing Matt Macey in goal... whoever that is

Right Backs:
At the begging of your game you may find the right back position a little shaky. Your three main options are Debuchy, Chambers and Bellerin however Debuchy is not the most reliable option and Chambers is only 18 years old. The best thing to do in that situation is squad rotation, Give Callum Chambers game time to develop but leave the more important matches to Debuchy. Chambers will turn into one of the worlds best right backs If you play your cards right

Central Defenders:
Mertesacker and Koscielny are your only reliable options, which is why I would recommend making signing one a priority. The defenders you do have are aging quickly and probably only have 2-3 years left so make sure you sort this out. Despite this, these two defenders are quality and very reliable.

Left Backs:
The full backs are very similar except you don't have a budding young talent to rely on. Kieren Gibbs and Nacho Monreal will do the job but if you have a little spare cash it could be a worthwhile signing

Right Midfielders:
Alexis Sanchez, The Ox and Theo Walcott are your options for the right, you will probably find it's a battle between Sanchez and Walcott for the spot while the Ox sits in the corner waiting for his turn. Fortunately the problem solves itself as Walcott is out injured for 2-3 months. if your worried about wasting Theo Walcott on the bench, don't. He can fill in as your striker and from experience i can tell you he does a great job. Don't forget about the Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain though as he has the potential to become on of your best players

Central Midfielders:
You will have five centre mids to choose from. Four creative players in the form of Wilshere, Ramsey, Arteta and Diaby then one more defensive player in Flamini, this is obviously a problem. For the time being Wilshere fits in as your defensive midfielder but you may want to strengthen it. In the more creative centre mid spot your best bet would definitely be Aaron Ramsey

Left Midfielders:
If only we had the same problems on the left as we do in the right, the left-winger position is one you really need to upgrade. You may find yourself deciding between playing the Ox there out of position, Santi Cazorla playing there where he really doesn't suit the winger role or Lukas Podolski who again just doesn’t fit in. Try signing a first team left-winger

Attacking Midfielders:
Attacking midfielder is really easy, you have two players to choose between and they both have mountains of quality. I would definitely make Ozil my starting player and have Cazorla as back up. Despite this if you need extra funds sell Cazorla, he's to good a player to rot on the bench and the Ramsey/Wishere duo can fit in as back up

Strikers:
Welbeck, Walcott, Giroud and Podolski can all play as your striker, if your going with my first tactic Welbeck and Walcott will do just fine but if your playing to a target man you might want cover. I'd definitely start Welbeck in most games but don't be afraid to play Walcott.

Weaknesses

The main weaknesses in the side are the Centre Backs, Defensive Midfielder, Left Winger and maybe a back up fullback. Here are some of my suggestions for signings

Centre Back: Eder Alvarez Balanta, Matteo Mussachio, Aymeric Laporte
Defensive Midfielder: Sami Khedira, Lars Bender, Sven Bender
Left Winger: Memphis Depay, Xherdan Shaqiri,

Youth Development

If you’re like me and into youth development Arsenal will be great fun for you, with excellent youth facilities and excellent junior coaching you will find yourself raking in regens and maybe even discovering the worlds next star.

Conclusion

I really enjoyed my save with Arsenal, they are such a fun club with young exiting players as well as a huge transfer budget to bring in your own favourite players. Good luck with your save and who knows maybe you could make Arsenal go unbeaten in a season twice.

Pitch Perfect - Football Manager Guide to Pitch Dimensions

$
0
0
There is one thing I never really bothered with in previous releases of Football Manager; Pitch size.

It was one of those options each season that I simply clicked to get rid of figuring that if I leave it as it is then my virtual players will feel right at home with their virtual pitch being the same size as it always has been in their virtual memories.

But then I got to thinking (a rare if not miraculous occurrence for me). Why would they put it in as an option if there wasn't a benefit to it? So I thought some more and after a few days rest to get over the trauma I decided to look into the possibilities an option like this gives a club.

Using a variety of sources: t'internet, my own saves, common sense and outside of the box thinking I was able to draw some conclusions on how making the ground staff work for you can help your team to dominate at home. However these are just my opinions and I've been wrong on at least four occasions in my life so please feel free to draw your own conclusions through experimentation or stubbornness.

Pitch Size Options

Please note: The English Premier league has a standardised pitch size, all clubs must use the same dimensions of 105m x 68m or as close to that as they can if there isn't room for it.

When prompted by your groundsman, via mail early in a season, you can select from a range of options, or simply leave it as it is currently.

Your options are currently limited to 'smallest possible', 'largest possible', 'average size' and 'current size' which is a real shame if you wanted to play on a long but narrow pitch. However even with these limited options you can really start to develop a tactic to suit your home ground and thwart your visitors.

Size Matters

So what is the point though really… is it just a case of giving your groundsman more or less grass to mow, save money on paint for the lines or simple aesthetics?

Well no, it really isn't.

Depending on your choice of starting team you can use your pitch to really gain an advantage when playing at home. For the sake of keeping it simple I will refer to the pitches as small, medium and large which will be defined by the options listed previously. Current pitch size will always be a separate entity as the team you start as will define what this 'current' value is, in this instance you can compare it to the standard options and use the following information for the one it most closely resembles.

Tactical Use

Small

Small pitches are very useful for teams who like to control the ball with short passing play. Your players will require high levels of technique, first touch abilities, dribbling skills and passing accuracy. It also works well for lower league teams or young teams who suffer from exhaustion easily as there is less running room overall.

Using shouts to encourage your players to play out from defence, pass their way into the opposition box, control the ball and otherwise frustrate the opposition by closing them down are key to making this work. Tempo is up to you and the skill of your players, a good team will be able to play this style at a fast tempo with little danger of losing the ball in key areas of the pitch. Lesser skilled teams are advised to play slow build up play in order to better control the ball.

Formations best suited to a small pitch are tight and compact ones that control the key areas of the pitch. 3-5-2 works well here by flooding the midfield with your players and still being able to support your defence down the wings with your wide players who will expend less of their precious energy running up and down a small field. I've used 3-3-1-3 to devastating effect with this sized pitch in the past. With your 3 central defenders holding the back line, just in front of them is a CDM with 2 wide wing backs, in the centre of the field is an accomplished central midfielder for distribution and up front you have your wingers and a central attacker. While this can leave you exposed in the middle of the park you can play around with instructions and roles to keep things pretty covered.

In summary a small field of play is ideal for teams that like to control the ball, stop teams from playing long-ball tactics against them and teams that have fitness issues. It is also useful for teams with a strong core of players but not much on the wings as the 'wide play' will be restricted on a small pitch naturally.

Medium

Medium pitches can be suited to pretty much any style of play. If you don't know what your end goal is tactic-wise you are advised to stick to your current size or go for the standard size. There is enough room to exploit the flanks, not so much that you will be exposed should you want to control the middle of the park, enough length for a bit of long-ball but not so much that you are overly exposed to it on the counter.

This really is the jack of all trades pitch setup and I'd advise it to be used whenever you don't want to have to develop a tactic to suit your home pitch. This can be especially useful when you are already dominant at home and want to ensure that your tactics can apply to the majority of other grounds out there. Those away points are vital at the end of the day!

Large

Large pitches are exhausting, even for the fittest players. But if that is what your team has a lot of you can really take advantage of the fact that the rest of the league probably doesn't. Nothing gives more late, second half goals than a large pitch and fit players. When the opposition is literally falling to their knees your strikers can waltz past and have plenty of scoring opportunities. Just be aware that your defence really need speed and fitness/stamina to ensure they can compensate for the long-ball tactics that a large pitch often provokes.

Your players will generally need stamina, pace, passing, decisions, positioning and anticipation to make the most of a large surface area. Determination won't hurt either.

Tactics well suited to a large pitch are 5-4-1, better known as parking the bus and hoofing it long, or my preference is 4-5-1(or 4-4-1-1) with these you get a good solid defence against the opposition but by flooding the midfield you also have a great chance to control the ball and thus the game. Your lone striker needs to be exceptional however as chances may be few and far between but get a good one with high off the ball skills and a midfield of great passers and you can really exploit the other sides offside attempts and leave him through on goal more times than not.

Be aware that with a large pitch you run the very real risk of being outflanked or even having your midfield and defence simply bypassed by a well placed pass. For the former the key is to ensure that all areas of the pitch are covered by at least two players, a wing back and a wide mid for example as well as holding the centre of the field with good defensive players. For the latter it is often worth exploring the option of a 'fly keeper', a goalie who can successfully act as a sweeper can be a life saver in those key moments.

Think Neuer ;)

Other Pitch Related Options

There are other factors than can affect your team, their tactics or even your match schedule.

Pitch Condition

The most obvious of which is the condition of the pitch. A poorly maintained surface is a career death-trap, more injuries will occur when the pitch is in a poor condition and more passes will go astray by bobbling around. The simple fix is to request that the surface is relaid, however this isn't always an option for smaller teams with no budget for such things, in those cases keep the ball in the air and protect your players with a good amount of squad rotation. It won't stop injuries but it will keep your squad available with match fitness when the worst happens and your top strikers go down with broken legs from a sinkhole in the oppositions box!

Undersoil Heating

Something for the big boys here as smaller clubs will no doubt have much more important things to spend their hard earned money on. Depending on your league of choice this will be more or less of a necessity but for most european nations it can mean the difference between a nicely spread out schedule of matches and a hectic last month of back to back games.
Snowy or water-logged pitches can be avoided with a bit of heat run under the field of play preventing those winter matches from being postponed to a more inconvenient time, it also has the added benefit of drying out a wet pitch generally which keeps its condition up when playing in wet or recently wet weather conditions. For high volumes of games this can actually avoid the need to relay the turf as often which goes some way to offsetting the cost of installation/running of the system in the first place.

Alternative Grounds

Most teams won't have a problem with this but smaller teams can sometimes have their reserve/youth teams play on the same pitch as the senior squad. Training is almost exclusively off-site but could also be worth checking on. The net result of your other squads using your pitch is that it will get worn out very quickly.

Currently there is nothing in game that can be done about this, meaning that if you have all three playing in the stadium as it stands they will continue to do so forever more, even if you hit the big time and end up building a new state of the art stadium. The only thing you can do is keep an eye on your pitch condition and request to have the turf relaid as often as required.

Using the editor you can set an alternative stadium for your reserves and so if you are planning on some LLM and are confident that you are going to reach the dizzy heights of the top league then it might be worth investing a few minutes to customise your database to give your team an alternative stadium for their reserves and youth sides… even if it is just a local playing field or the park!
